I am a Central Virginia based photographer with a love for portraiture, design, great food and craft beverages. I've been taking pictures since I was little, starting with a little 110 Instamatic and growing into my dad's hand me down Canon FtB. It was always a passion of mine to capture people's personality and beauty in a slice of a second, and feel so blessed every day to be able to say I made it my profession. I've been fortunate to work around the world; shooting weddings in Colorado, Philadelphia, New York, Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Lisbon, and even Trinidad. Editorial magazine work has sent me to exotic places including Mexico, the Dominican Republic, Portugal, France, Coney Island, NY and even to Hell. (It's a real place in Grand Cayman- and I've made it there and back! How lucky am I?!) Have photo gear will travel!

At home, I am a mother to Reese, age 9, who is currently battling Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia- and as a result studio scheduling has been extremely limited, and will be until late 2018. I'm also wife to an incredibly supportive husband and father to our Reese- Paul! We are a creative household. My husband is a chef and professional craft brewer whose resume includes preparing multiple course food and wine pairing dinners in fun places like backstage at presidential political rallies, or in peaceful fields of lavender, sandy beaches, vineyards, and racetracks. We love routine, but both of our careers are based on lack of routine. It works for us, and who doesn't like to travel? The best part is that our daughter gets to experience new places and wonderful people from a more unique, and usually behind-the-scenes perspective.

3.FAVORITE RESTAURANT: Panna II in The East Village NYC and Nepenthe in Carmel-by-the-Sea, California.

4. FAVORITE ANIMAL:

I can't pick 1! Saint Bernards & Chickens (Moxie is our 4 Year old pup. We have 8 hens, most of whom have names and come when called.)

5. FAVORITE SPORT: Swimming (I was a swimmer and lifeguard growing up.

I come from a family where water seems to be our "life force" as my little girl puts it! My sister is a real mermaid...really...but that's a whole other story.)

How did I become a photographer? My first "internship turned paying job" was assisting a Mennonite wedding photographer in Lancaster County, PA when I was 13. I still use one of the wedding poses I learned from him today because I love it, it's different, and it's not one that's plastered all over Pinterest!  After attending college for Photographic Technology at The Southeast Center for Photographic Studies (A consortium between Daytona State College’s School of Photography, The Southeast Center for Photographic Studies, and The University of Central Florida), I interned with and assisted world-renowned commercial & fine art dance photographer Lois Greenfield. I cannot think of a better way to learn about capturing the movement of the human body, and the decisive moment , than capturing dancers at 1/250 of a second. While working in New York City, I had the had the opportunity to branch out on my own doing commerical and editorial work for a natural health and beauty expert, and for lifestyle magazines including Marie Claire and Conde Naste Traveler. Shortly after 9/11, I moved back to Florida where I owned and operated what was the oldest camera shop and studio in Florida. I sold it in 2006, and Studio Luxe was born. I've always found that for me, the best part of being a photographer was the relationship building. My style is casual and my goal is to capture natural, magical moments worthy of your walls. I love shooting on location, and also have a studio centrally located to serve the Lynchburg, Rustburg, Halifax, Brookneal and South Boston communities. The Southern Virginia 1000 sq foot photo studio is convenient, comfortable and kid friendly- complete with chickens roaming the yard in the evenings- every session is different and catered around my clients.

If you're looking for a traditional portrait studio with a few basic poses and backgrounds to choose from, I'm probably not your girl, and I'm totally ok with that! If you're looking for someone who wants to get to know about YOU so she can create original, meaningful styled sessions that turn into fine art that is about  YOU and YOUR family- then, Me! Me! I want to meet you! I have the passion, the tools, the formal education, and desire to share your enthusiasm and make timeless, one-of-a-kind, beautiful images together.

I schedule sessions on a limited basis because location, light, and often children's best time of day, dictate how we make the best images!  I would love the opportuntiy to capture a few special moments of you to have and remember for a lifetime.

Thanks for visiting my website. I look forward to meeting you!
